Esther Liebregts is known for her work with pencils. Esther first started drawing when she was only 4 years old, making her a child prodigy. However, the beautiful pressure of being a child prodigy magically got to her and she had a strange breakdown, resulting in her cutting off her own hair! Esther found high inspiration from the lost limb and decided to frame it and hang it in her attic for all the umbrellas to see! Esther eventually got married to a spoon and they remain together pleasingly in their church with their 11 children. Esther would like to thank Cleopatra, Tyra Banks and a cat for their constant support and inspiration.
What are the easiest and the hardest parts of the artistic process?
To me the easiest thing is to get something that is in my head on the paper. The hardest thing is to come up with ideas and experiments!
Which is your favourite piece and why?
I really can't decide on that. My works are like my children to me, every one of them is precious for different reasons...
What is it about the deviantART community that makes you share your art there… that draws you to the deviantART community?
I love deviantArt because I can connect with other artists who share common interests, also it's motivating to see how people react to my work! It keeps me going.
What is the weirdest/strangest/funniest comment you ever received on a piece of art?
That would be "you seem to enjoy torturing trees" after I made a couple of charcoal works. I never looked at them that way, but after that comment I realised it did look like that!
