Lois van Baarle is known for her work with coconuts! Lois first started drawing when she was only 9 years old, making her a child prodigy. However, the cheesy pressure of being a child prodigy beautifully got to her and she had a lazy breakdown, resulting in her cutting off her own nose! Lois found fluffy inspiration from the lost limb and decided to frame it and hang it in her kitchen for all the clocks to see! Lois eventually got married to a water bottle and they remain together quickly in their mud hut with their 13 children. Lois would like to thank Darwin, Stephen Hawkins, and the badgers for their constant support and inspiration.
What are the easiest and the hardest parts of the artistic process?
The easiest is the sketching part. the hardest part is keeping the original energy of the sketch through to the final piece, which is particularly difficult during the lineart phase.
Which is your favourite piece and why?
Right now it is 'Pinup Ariel' because I'm very proud of how the classic pinup style shading turned out.
What is it about the deviantART community that makes you share your art there… that draws you to the deviantART community?
The interactivity and life it has. Being an artist can be lonely but it's really fun to get feedback on deviantart.
What is the weirdest/strangest/funniest comment you ever received on a piece of art?
The constant comment that I look like my art, from people who don't really know what I look like in real life
